Chris Hemsworth in Tofino: "Not sure if we’re robbing banks or surfing" (PHOTOS)
Chris Hemsworth is making the best of his lengthy stay in British Columbia by spending the weekend in Tofino to hit the waves.
The 34-year-old Australian actor, known for playing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, took to Instagram to share his experience surfing on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

He is known to be an avid surfer, although judging by what he wrote he clearly isn’t used to surfing in frigid waters: “Not sure if we’re robbing banks or surfing but it’s damn cold in Canada. Well worth it though, what a beautiful place!”
In an Instagram story, Hemsworth made it clear he was having some issues with getting used to his skintight wetsuit, and joked that he felt “super comfortable” as he struggled to cover the hood over his head.
Shortly after, during a break from surfing, he also posted a lighthearted photo of himself with his selfie stick. He captioned: ‘This new selfie stick is so cool #amidoingitright #selfiestickadventures.”
Hemsworth arrived in Vancouver earlier this month to film 20th Century Fox’s Bad Times at the El Royale, which is scheduled to film in the city until the middle of April.
He seemed immediately impressed with the city – or at least with his temporary accommodations in the city during filming.
Using his favourite new selfie stick, he showed off the unobstructed, panoramic mountain and inlet views from his condo in Coal Harbour in downtown Vancouver: “Woah, here we are! Selfie stick adventures, Canada! Will you have a look at that view, would ya? This will do.”
And he also made a surprise appearance at World Rugby’s Rugby Sevens tournament held at BC Place Stadium.
A few weeks ago, during a family vacation in Australia, Hemsworth shared an adorable video of himself surfing with his five-year-old daughter on his back. And he did it effortlessly, like a pro.
He wrote: “Day two with my surf coach, she’s like a little angel on my shoulder constantly feeding me knowledge and inspiration and occasionally heavy handed criticism that borders on abuse but I know it’s for my own good (joke) Thank you coach Indi you’re the greatest, love.”
Hemsworth also has twin three-year-old sons. Not only can one of the boys stand up, he can already ride a wave.
