Famous 50-year-old dessert shop makes Vancouver debut this weekend

Vancouver’s ice cream scene is about to get an exciting new addition, and it’s just in time for the warmer weather.

Chocolats Favoris is making its way to the Lower Mainland with its first-ever Vancouver location, and Dished got an exclusive sneak peek inside ahead of its opening.

Located in Gastown, the new spot is 1,250 sq. ft. and features Chocolats’ signature real chocolate dipping stations, where you can get soft serve dipped in one of its over 12 flavours. That includes milk, dark, and white chocolate, as well as other options such as dulce de leche, salted caramel, cotton candy, and cookies and cream, just to name a few.

But the ice cream offerings don’t stop there. You can order a standard dipped cone or opt for the Kooky Cone instead. This includes a wide range of toppings specific to each type of dip. Think pretzels and popcorn for the salted caramel, and raspberry crisps and drizzle on the dark chocolate dip.

Another tasty treat we had the chance to try was its dessert, which features funnel cake fries on top of a bed of soft serve, topped with marshmallows (a.k.a. the cheese curds) and your choice of chocolate. We opted for the salted caramel here and are already making plans to come back and try it again.

The chocolate chain is also known for its rotating flavour features, meaning there’s always something new and exciting to try here. During our visit, the current flavour feature was Candy Mania, featuring white chocolate and topped with Skittles and other tasty additions.

Chocolats told Dished that this new location is the passion project of business and life partners Patrick Robert and Paul Codilla, who also own a location in Victoria.

“From the moment we first experienced Chocolats Favoris, we knew we wanted to bring it to the West Coast. After years of persistence — starting with Victoria and now expanding to Vancouver — we’re excited to see that vision come to life in Gastown,” said Robert. “For us, Chocolats Favoris isn’t just about chocolate — it’s about creating memorable moments for everyone who walks through our doors, and we can’t wait to introduce more Canadians to what makes both our products and the store itself so special.”

And while ice cream may be one of the most exciting draws for this new location, Chocolats offers much more, including a line of fine chocolates and bars, as well as take-home chocolate fondue kits with varieties that can be prepared in the microwave or on a stovetop.

Chocolats also teased that it plans to open additional B.C. locations later this year, so stay tuned for more announcements.

Chocolats Favoris Gastown opens its doors on May 3, 2025. As part of its grand opening celebrations, the first 50 customers will receive a free signature mini-fondue.
