Team behind beloved Vancouver restaurant to open new oyster concept in growing B.C. culinary destination

Like many in Vancouver, we were sad when Autostrada Osteria closed its Main Street location last year after eight years of service.

However, co-owner Dustin Dockendorf teased at the time that something bigger than anything they’ve ever done before was in the works. Now, after months shrouded in mystery, we have more information on what that new project is.

Autostrada shared on Instagram that it will be opening a new concept this summer called Autostrada Oyster Bar and Grill.

“Located between West Vancouver and Squamish, the new Autostrada location is just off the Sea to Sky highway next to the old mine — an epic spot with incredible views of Howe Sound and the surrounding mountains,” shared Autostrada.

It joins the list of other recently opened restaurants in the Britannia Beach area, including Beaucoup Bakery & Cafe and Kawartha Dairy‘s first Western Canada location, which opened earlier this year.

As for what people can expect from this new Autostrada concept, the restaurant said it will offer a seasonal menu that reflects its surroundings.

“Much like farm crops, oysters follow the seasons so guests can look forward to Pacific oysters harvested from various local growing regions off the B.C. coast,” said Autostrada.

Additionally, it will serve other casual, classic dishes, such as burgers and grilled salmon, alongside some Autostrada favourites.

“You better believe we’re bringing the Bolognese!” added Autostrada.

An exact address and opening date have yet to be announced for the new concept, but guests can anticipate digging into some oysters here sometime this summer. For those who can’t wait, they can also visit its Vancouver House location.
