Michelin-recommended Vancouver wine bar announces closure

We’ve had some pretty major losses in the Vancouver dining scene recently, and now another much-loved natural wine bar will also be bidding us farewell.
Mount Pleasant’s Bar Susu announced that it would be closing its doors after three years of service at the end of May.
Since it opened as a temporary pop-up in 2022, Bar Susu has received many accolades, including landing on the inaugural Michelin Guide Vancouver recommended list. It’s best known for its assortment of small plates and drinks, and as a late-night hangout.
āBar Susu has always been a bit of a shape-shifter,ā said Cody Allmin, co-founder of Boxset Collective, the team behind Vancouver restaurants like Published on Main, El Gato Gab Gab, and Bar Susu, to name just a few. āWeāve adapted through a pandemic, a fire, a relocation, and an economic rollercoaster. Whatās remained constant is the creativity, the care, and the community that formed within its walls.”
Despite the sad news of the closure, the natural wine bar plans to go out with a bang by bringing back a rotating list of some of its most iconic dishes and drinks from over the years. This includes crowd favourites like its version of the Honey Cruller, Sablefish with Tom Kha Sauce, Crispy Cheese Bites, and Dinosaur Kale Salad, alongside what it calls “sleeper hits” from past menus.
āWeāre immensely proud of everything this team has brought to life, and thank everyone for their support over the past three years,ā added Allmin.
Bar Susu will operate Tuesday through Saturday from now until its final night on May 30, 2025.
