These viral mochi donuts can now be found in south Edmonton
Mochido is continuing to grow in Edmonton this year, with a new south side location opening this week following the success of its north side return.
At this beloved spot, you’ll be able to find the viral mochi donuts complete with their signature shape in unique flavours. Not only that, but you can also grab a drink from its selection of bubble teas, with most drinks being made with fresh fruit.
These uniquely shaped mochi donuts, also known as poi mochi, are a fusion crossing traditional American-style doughnuts and Japanese mochi, usually made out of glutinous rice flour or tapioca flour to give them a special chewy texture. Although Mister Donut certainly popularized this donut as ‘Pon de Ring’, it’s become a sensation on social media due to its different texture and shape, with more mochi donut shops opening in the past few years.
Mochido originally made its appearance in Vancouver in 2021 and, after closing in early 2025, the spot officially arrived in Edmonton this July with a location in the Northtown Centre’s T&T Supermarket.

The soft opening for the south Edmonton location was this Sunday, Aug. 9.
From now until the end of the week (Aug. 15), the new store will be open from 1 p.m. until it is sold out. As a treat for those supporting the soft opening, there will be 20 per cent off coupons with every purchase, while supplies last.
At this new spot, in addition to the great treats you’ll be able to drink and eat, you can expect a sit-in cafe to enjoy the delights. So, if you’re looking for the full cafe experience, this new south location will be the best place to stop by.
