Calgary's new Italian restaurant offers 10 different kinds of hand-tossed pizzas

Calgary is home to some pretty exceptional Italian restaurants, from iconic haunts to newer establishments. Now, a new chef-driven spot with a specialty in hand-tossed pizza and fresh pasta has just opened.
Scarpetta opened its first outpost at the Riviera Plaza Hotel back in 2022, and at the time, it hinted at an upcoming Beltline outpost, and it’s finally here.
Located at 645 10th Avenue SW, Scarpetta Cucina Italiana is bringing a taste of Italy to the inner city, serving dishes from breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as plenty of Italian classics.
Brunch favourites on the menu include Eggs in Purgatory (poached eggs in tomato sauce and served on toasted sourdough), waffles, avocado toast, and frittata.
Its dinner menu is large, with Italian-inspired fare like arancini, bruschetta, truffle fries, and salads.
Of course, no visit is complete without its pasta, and Scarpetta serves all the classics, from carbonara to linguine alle vongole and gnocchi with wild mushrooms and gorgonzola.
The spot’s hand-tossed pizza is made from double-zero flour imported from Italy. From a traditional margherita to its potate topped with smashed potatoes and sausage, there is a selection of 10 pies to suit any taste. Scarpetta is also able to make gluten-free pizza and has vegan cheese on hand.
Scarpetta Beltine is open Monday to Friday from 11 am to late, and 8 am to late on weekends.
