The redevelopment of a huge grocery store in Northeast Calgary has been proposed.
Development company Royop has revealed plans for the demolition and redevelopment of Calgary Co-op’s North Hill location in the Winston Heights-Mountainview neighbourhood.
The plans will see a new mixed-use building including a 40,000-square-foot grocery store, with 5,000 square feet of accompanying retail and over 189 residential units above.
According to Alberta Major Projects, the redevelopment is expected to cost around $33.3 million.
For those who regularly shop at the Calgary Co-op North Hill, luckily, the existing grocery store isn’t going anywhere just yet. The project will be phased to ensure the new store is ready to open before the current store closes.
The project is anticipated to be completed by 2027.
The new Co-op isn’t the only grocery store under development in the city with a new No Frills expected to open in downtown Calgary.
