6 highly anticipated Calgary restaurants opening soon

If there’s one thing we can always count on in Calgary, it’s that a heap of exciting new restaurant openings are right around the corner.

From the resurgence of a popular Mexican eatery to the expansion of a beloved brunch chain, the city is about to get all the more delicious over the coming weeks.

If you’re looking to keep track, here are some of the biggest restaurant openings to look forward to in Calgary.

IBU

IBU, a new restaurant offering Asian-inspired contemporary cuisine, is set to open on Nov. 4, just across the street from Our Daily Brett.

Expect creative dishes with Asian inspiration ranging from small plates to mains. Those looking to get experimental can also try a multi-course tasting menu experience at its Chef’s Table.

Miss Do, a brand-new spot for Vietnamese cuisine, is gearing up to open in its home tucked away above Sho Sushi on Macleod Trail.

While not much has been revealed about the new spot just yet, it’s slated to open to coincide with the kick-off of YYC Noodle Festival.

Red’s Diner – Seton

Red’s Diner, a Calgary brunch staple, will be opening a brand-new location in the city, this time heading south to the Seton community.

Having first opened in 2010, Red’s has become a favourite among breakfast food enthusiasts for its classic diner fare, such as Bennies, classic breakfasts, burgers, and so much more.

Tequila & Tacos – East Hills

Tequila & Tacos, a restaurant known for its traditional Mexican fare, is officially making a comeback in Calgary, following the closure of its Crowfoot location this summer.

The popular spot will be opening its doors at its new East Hills location on Nov. 1, where, alongside tequila and tacos, Calgarians will be able to enjoy everything from burritos to quesadillas, and specialties such as carne asada and enchiladas.

Marugame Udon

Marugame Udon has revealed it will be opening its first Calgary location later this fall, setting up shop at CrossIron Mills, right next to Miniso.

The noodle spot first opened in Japan in 2000, where it gained recognition for its Sanuki Udon, a style originating from Kagawa Prefecture in southern Japan.

The Basic

The Basic, previously known as “Joe’s Grill,” first opened in Vancouver over 30 years ago and has since expanded to three locations. Now, the spot is gearing up to open its first YYC outpost in Crescent Heights.

For those unfamiliar, the diner-style spot offers classic homemade all-day breakfast and lunch dishes, made using quality ingredients at fair prices.
