Famous Japanese udon restaurant is opening its first Calgary location

One of Japan’s most popular spots for handmade udon is finally making its way to Calgary this year.
Marugame Udon has revealed it will be opening its first Calgary location later this fall, setting up shop at CrossIron Mills, right next to Miniso.
The noodle spot first opened in Japan in 2000, where it gained recognition for its Sanuki Udon, a style originating from Kagawa Prefecture in southernĀ Japan.
It sticks to the basics, making everything in-house, including its noodles, which, in true form to tradition, are made with just flour, water, and salt.

Since its conception, Marugame has opened over 1,000 restaurants, spanning several continents. In each of its restaurants, diners can watch its hand-crafted udon bowls and tempura being prepared right before their eyes.
After years of anticipation, Marugame opened its first Canadian outpost in Vancouver last year to much fanfare.
While an official opening date for the spot has yet to be revealed, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this exciting new addition to Calgary’s food scene.
