Vancouver-based all-day breakfast joint to open first Calgary restaurant
Calgary’s breakfast scene is about to be taken up a notch, as a long-standing Vancouver favourite prepares to open its first location in the city.
The Basic, previously known as “Joe’s Grill,” first opened in Vancouver over 30 years ago and has since expanded to three locations. Now, the spot is gearing up to open its first YYC outpost in Crescent Heights.
For those unfamiliar, the diner-style spot offers classic homemade all-day breakfast and lunch dishes, made using quality ingredients at fair prices.

The large menu has everything from classic diner breakfasts, stacks of pancakes, omelettes, and bennies. Meanwhile, its lunch offerings include burgers and sandwiches, soups, salads, and more.
The Basic is slated to open in Calgary in October, so watch this space.
