Bret Michaels

What: Poison frontman and reality tv star Bret Michaels comes to Hard Rock Casino on his Unbroken Tour. Michaels’ album Custom Built topped Billboard’s Hard Rock list, and he has collaborated with the likes of Jimmy Buffett, Loretta Lynn, and Joe Perry on his album Jammin’ With Friends. Not only is Michaels established as a musical celebrity, but he now also has his own TV show called Rock My RV with Bret Michaels, where he rock n’ rolls old beat-up RV’s.

RISE Conference Vancouver 2019

What: RISE Conference Vancouver features more than 25 world class speakers at the Pipe Shop in North Vancouver. ACE is presenting this two-and-a-half day mentorship conference for women who are seeking connection, inspiration and growth in their personal lives, or for business and career goals.

Attendees will have an opportunity to ask their burning questions, share stories of struggles and successes within a network of influential women and notable thought leaders. Vancouver Horror Show Film Festival

What: Horror fans can indulge in the macabre when the Vancouver Horror Show Film Festival makes its return to the York Theatre. For their second year, VHS is featuring not only short films from across the globe, but feature-length films as well. They are also adding a second day to the festival, so audiences can look forward to even more scares. At the end of the festival, there will be awards given out for a number of categories, including an audience choice award.

Boobyball Presents: Into the Ocean

What: The annual Boobyball party returns to Van City this month, and this year’s charitable party is going underwater. Taking place on October 26 at The Permanent, the giant party aims to raise funds for Rethink Breast Cancer’s programs, spread awareness about breast cancer prevention, and provide support for individuals under 40.

BROCKHAMPTON

What: American hip-hop ensemble BROCKHAMPTON will be taking the stage with special guests at the PNE Forum on Saturday, October 26, as part of their “Heaven Belongs To You Tour.” Today, the 15-member group is made up of musicians and creatives from all over the world who celebrate the different talents they bring together. To date, they’ve released six albums: All-American Trash (2016), SaturationSaturation IISaturation III (2017), Iridescence (2018), and most recently, Ginger (2019).

What: The ArtBreakers Market is a weekend-long illustration and design exhibition. The market will feature a diverse roster of artists, including award-winning children’s book author and illustrators, art directors, and magazine illustrators.  Over the weekend, over 45 of these top-tier professionals will be gathered at Heritage Hall to showcase and share their personal projects and wares with the public.

VRRA Rabbit Festival

What: The Vancouver Rabbit Rescue and Advocacy (VRRA) is hosting its 15th Annual VRRA Rabbit Festival on October 26. The festival will include demonstrations from bunny athletes from the Vancouver Rabbit Agility club, contests, raffles, drinks, and snacks.

With a minimum donation, the festival offers vet checks, nail clippings, and grooming services, just be sure to BYOB (bring your own bunny). There will also be educational services on-site to help inform attendees about caring for their rabbits and adoptable bunnies from the VRRA shelter will there to visit.

Halloween at the Vancouver Aquarium

Vancouver Public Library Book Sale

What: Vancouver Public Library is holding a huge book sale from October 24 to 26, in the Alice McKay Room, at the VPL’s main branch at 350 West Georgia Street. More than just books, however, the sale will also feature CDs and video games among the offerings. All sales are final, and attendees are asked to bring their own bags to carry their new finds home in. Prices start at just 50 cents for some items, and anything that remains unsold by Saturday will be half price.

Lansdowne Centre’s Drive-In Halloween Movie

What: Disney-lovers will be able to visit Metro Vancouver’s popular drive-in venue to catch the 2019 release of The Lion King. The free-to-attend event is also paired with two costume contests. The first is a “car costume contest,” which people can enter by posting photos of their car in costume on FreshAirCinema’s Facebook. Winners will be chosen from attendees that bring their car, in costume, to the movie. The second is a kids costume contest, which will take place an hour before the movie begins, with a prize for best costume.
