New speedy seaplane route from Vancouver to Tofino is about to take off

Storm-watching season is just around the corner in B.C., and those chasing the waves of adrenaline in Tofino can soon get there even quicker thanks to Harbour Air.
North America’s largest seaplane airline is launching its first-ever wheeled flight service from Vancouver to Tofino starting on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025.
The new route from YVR to YAZ Long Beach Airport is part of Harbour Air’s biggest expansion yet, with new routes and more flights set to roll out across B.C. and beyond over the next year.

“We’re responding directly to what our guests and communities are asking for: more choice, more flexibility, and more reliable travel,” said Chris Fordyce, chief commercial officer at Harbour Air, in a recent release.
“By adding new routes, extending operating hours, and introducing wheeled services for the winter months, we’re making sure people can get where they need to be, whatever the reason.”
Those looking to get to the West Coast surf more easily can enjoy year-round wheeled flights to Tofino-Long Beach Airport starting on Friday, Oct. 27.
The 45-minute flight will depart four times a week, with fares starting at $139 one-way.

Harbour Air
This time of year, storm watching is one of the activities that draws visitors to Tofino. The geographical nature of Tofino makes for unique weather and wind patterns.
It’s also a great destination for wildlife viewing, with bear and whale watching tours featured as popular activities.
Award-winning comedian Chelsea Handler was also recently spotted in Tofino, experiencing some of B.C.’s beautiful wilderness and dining in some of Tofino’s eateries, like Ombre and Shelter.

She shared pictures of her trip in a post on Instagram, with the caption, “Went to Tofino for the weekend to practice smiling.”
Many of Handler’s followers suggested that she might as well become a Canadian citizen at this point, given her frequent visits, and others stated that Canada loves her.
Another follower said, “Tofino! The most magical place on the island 😍.”
