The new week has brought sunshine back to Vancouver, but you may need to bundle up to enjoy it.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is forecasting a mixed weather week for the region, with sun, cloudy periods and a chance of showers in the look ahead.

Temperatures are continuing to drop as we progress further into the fall season, with overnight lows dipping to just 6°C.

ECCC meteorologist Derek Lee recently told Daily Hive that temperatures will stay close to seasonal averages, with daytime highs near 17°C for coastal areas and up to 20°C inland.

“At this time of year, a normal daytime high is around 15 to 16 degrees, so what we have on the forecast is around 17 for coastal areas,” he explained.

The highest temperature in Vancouver this week is expected to occur on Friday, with a mix of sun and clouds and a high of 17°C.

However, overnight lows will drop below 10°C for much of the week, and as low as 6°C on Saturday night.

And you may need to start planning some indoor activities for the Thanksgiving long weekend, as a chance of showers is forecast to return on Friday night and into Saturday.
