A new scenic seaplane route has just been announced, connecting Coal Harbour in downtown Vancouver to the Inner Harbour in Victoria.

The announcement comes from Seair Seaplanes, a local seaplane service founded by a pilot from British Columbia in the ’80s.

Seair Seaplanes says that the new route will be the “fastest and most scenic connection between the two cities.”

You won’t have to wait too much longer to try it out, either.

The new route is going to be launched next month, on Oct. 20.

“This expansion strengthens Seair’s commitment to connecting British Columbia’s communities through fast, reliable, and scenic air travel,” said Seair in a press release.

In its press release, Seair says that this new route is a significant achievement for the company, which has never had a base in Victoria.

Folks who travel on this new route will be flying in a Cessna 208 Caravan turboprop.

“This dependable, nine-passenger aircraft is renowned for its exceptional safety, comfort, and performance, providing a spacious cabin, a smooth and quiet ride, and enhanced all-weather reliability,” Seair says.

Flights will arrive and depart from 1234 Wharf St., and Seair promises a “quick and seamless check-in process.”

“Our team has coordinated every detail of this new route to ensure guests enjoy a seamless, reliable journey. Travellers will have the flexibility to choose a flight that fits their schedule, whether they’re commuting for business or embarking on a weekend adventure.”

In announcing the new Vancouver-Victoria route, Seair states that it is the world’s largest operator of Cessna Caravan floatplanes.

“In addition to the new Victoria service, Seair offers scheduled flights to the Southern Gulf Islands and Nanaimo from Richmond and Downtown Vancouver.”

You can already book the new route on the Seair website, and one-way flights start at $99, which includes taxes and fees.
