Kids Up Front’s More Than A Movie Night – Toy Story 4

What: Watch the hit film Toy Story 4 on the jumbotron at BC Place, and for every ticket purchased, a ticket will be donated to the communities of Kids Up Front. There will be on field activities for the family to enjoy before the screening, and every ticket includes a hot dog, soft drink, and popcorn.

Kids Up Front collaborates with over 120 local charities and youth groups to provide donated event tickets and programs to marginalized youth and children.

NeXT Up Spin-a-thon: Spin to Win Against Cancer

What: The NeXT Up Spin-a-thon is BC’s largest exercise fundraiser, and helps raise funds for BC Cancer Foundation’s nutrition and exercise programming for cancer patients. Register to be one of hundreds of riders committing to one of six hourly slots on a bike at Method Studios (Kitsilano and North Vancouver), Cadence Cycling (South Granville), Spin Society (Mount Pleasant), and TaG Cycling (Broadway). There is also an option to register as a team to keep spinning throughout all six classes. There are also giveaways and prizes throughout the day.

Luke Combs

What: Rising country star Luke Combs will be performing at Rogers Arena as part of his Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour. He’ll be joined by supporting acts Morgan Wallen, Jameson Rodgers, and Dee Jay Silver.

Kits House Autumn Fair 2019

What: The annual Kits House Autumn Fair features many free activities, including live music, festive photo booth, food truck and artisan vendors, live shows and yoyo workshops, all ages yoga and more. Plus for a small fee attendees can visit the haunted house, bouncy castle, pumpkin patch, face painting, carnival games, face painting, and a gift basket bonanza. Then stick around to see who wins the costume contest – best pet, best child and best adult costumes.

Fright Nights at Playland

What: Fright Nights are returning to Playland this October, bringing hauntings, horror, and hair-raising rides to Vancouver for another year. Visitors can expect eight haunted houses, live shows and performances, and 20 rides. Playland’s newest haunted house, “The Bloodshed,” will also be making a return.

As far as food and beverages go, expect all of Playland’s beloved offerings, as well as several pumpkin spice-themed options, including pumpkin spice mini donuts, kettle corn, and candy floss. The park’s Tipsy Unicorn drink, which was notoriously popular during Playland Nights and the Fair at the PNE, will also be making a return.

Kitspatch

What: On Saturday, October 19, pick a pumpkin by donation and help the Greater Vancouver Food Bank at Kitspatch, an event hosted by the West 4th Avenue Business Improvement Association. A total of 300 pumpkins will be placed in front of the Kitswings mural at West 4th Avenue and Burrard Street, where you can take your pick of the best from 11 am to 1 pm.

There’s going to be a professional photographer on-site to snap photos of the day and help you celebrate the festivities. Dogs are welcome and doggy treats will be available. Lucky’s Doughnuts and DAVIDsTEA will be served.

RAPS Kitten and Cat Adoption Event

What: In total, Regional Animal Protection Society (RAPS) has 25 kittens, plus another six who are a little older and also looking for forever homes. To help clear the shelter, RAPS is holding a kitten adoption event this weekend. Interested parties are encouraged to pre-apply on its website and fill out an online pre-approval application form in order to be considered.

Interested adopters are urged to call the RAPS Cat Sanctuary this week for a telephone pre-interview and reserve an appointment for October 19. RAPS says it can’t guarantee the timing of adoptions, but applicants should be prepared to take a kitten home on Saturday. All adopters will receive an adoption package.

WWE NXT Live

What: WWE NXT will stop at the PNE Agrodome on October 19, which promises to be an intimate show in the 5,000-seat arena. One of the hottest brands for pure wrestling fans, this will NXT’s first visit to Vancouver since 2017.

Organizers have announced a lineup that includes current champion Adam Cole, Delta’s Kyle O’Reilly and Penticton’s Tyler Breeze, and many more.

Light the Night Walk

What: This beautiful three-kilometre walk is held every year in support and remembrance of those who have faced leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and other blood cancers. By walking, you can help raise funds for blood cancer research and patient support services.
