Area shared by Alberta/B.C. just made the list of 2026 best places to travel

If you’re on the hunt for some of the best places to travel in the world in 2026, you won’t have to go far; a popular area that straddles the Alberta/B.C. border just compiled a list of the top spots to visit.

Bloomberg made the list after a year of collecting data, consulting travel experts, and checking out the next big trends to reveal the best places to visit.

The Canadian Rockies found a spot on the list, which includes Jasper, Banff, Waterton Lakes, Yoho, and Kootenay National Park.

Plus, numerous provincial parks are also included in the area, like Hamber, Mount Robson, and Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.

Its inclusion was attributed to the Canada Strong Pass being a big seller, which allows visitors to access the spots for free or at discounted prices.

“In winter, the Canadian Rockies’ ski areas are a powder playground. Off-piste, you can scramble up Jasper’s new artificial ice-climbing wall or stay up late to watch the northern lights.”

Bloomberg also highlighted summer experiences, mentioning the new $95 million Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise upgrade that opened earlier this year. The upgrade included the Basin Glacial Waters, a thermal spa experience that offers hot and cold pools, saunas, salt rooms, and much more.

The Rockies’ accommodations were also a draw for travel, noting the new Kenrick and Rimrock Resort in Banff, and the Fairmont Jasper Lodge, which is expected to undergo a massive refurbishment soon.

“Expect new suites, restaurants and the most luxurious log cabins you’ve ever seen, all scattered across the resort’s 700 acres.”

As for when to visit, the list says spring is locally known as the “secret season,” bringing nice snow to the hills, but lots of opportunity for activities like golf and biking in the valleys. Spring is also a great time to spot some northern lights.

It recommends steering clear of the national parks in the first week of July to beat the Canada Day crowds, and be wary of visiting in the summer due to the possibility of smoky air from potential wildfires.

While the list heavily touts Alberta spots to visit in the Canadian Rockies, we cannot help but show some love to all of the stunning spots to visit on the B.C. side of the mountains.

Heck, last year, a national park near the Alberta/B.C. border was named a top travel spot for 2025.

While in Yoho, we highly suggest a visit to Emerald Lake, Wapta Falls, Takakkaw Falls, and the Village of Field. Try to get to your first destination as early as you can — parking lots sure fill up fast!

Mount Robson is also a must-see, as it is the second-oldest provincial park in British Columbia. The iconic Berg Lake Trail recently reopened after a four-year-long phased restoration, and that’s an absolute must-do.
