There’s something special about crossing the bridge over the Athabasca River and driving through the rustic wooden archway that marks the entrance to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.
Unlike its castle-like counterparts to the south, the lodge is spread across a 700-acre property, with rustic cabins scattered along the shores of Lac Beauvert rather than gathered under a single roof.
While the setting itself isn’t changing, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is in the midst of a multimillion-dollar renovation aimed at modernizing the resort while preserving its historic character. Construction is set to run from late 2025 through Spring 2026 and includes updates to guest rooms as well as a redesign of the main lodge.
The renovations are building on a pre-wildfire capital investment program that began in 2018, with the lodge committing over $60 million through 2026 toward overall property enhancements.
We took a look at some of the newly renovated guest spaces already completed, as well as what visitors can expect as work continues on the property.

Guest rooms across the property are being refreshed with modern amenities while maintaining the lodge’s classic look. That includes full restorations of luxury lakefront suites, upgrades to estate and bayview suites, and climate control in the Fairmont and Deluxe rooms.

The new room designs draw on Jasper’s natural surroundings, blending rustic materials with a more modern feel. Luxury lakefront suites now feature large lake-facing doors, wood flooring, stone fireplaces, and upgraded bathrooms, while junior lakeview suites are set with flexible living spaces oriented toward the water.

The Fairmont and Deluxe rooms have also been refreshed with new lighting, walk-in showers, upgraded vanities, and furnishings inspired by the lodge’s original cabin woodwork and the surrounding forest. Renovations to the air-conditioned Fairmont rooms are scheduled to continue between now and spring 2026

While we couldn’t tour the main lodge due to the flurry of ongoing construction (no pun intended), renderings of the updated space show a luxurious interior that blends those modern comforts with the classic rustic mountain lodge look.

Despite the ongoing construction, the hotel says that many amenities remain open, including the health club, spa, pool, golf simulator, and activity centres.
For guests on site, front desk and concierge services are temporarily operating out of the golf clubhouse, with a complimentary shuttle helping people get around the property.
