Reservations for two popular B.C. parks that are known for an adventurous good time are opening soon.
On Thursday morning, the B.C. Ministry of Environment and Parks revealed that reservations for both “the world-renowned” Berg Lake Trail and the Bowron Lake Canoe Circuit will open in just a couple of weeks, on Dec. 2.
“Beginning at 7 a.m. PT on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025, people wanting to camp along the Berg Lake Trail in Mount Robson Park or paddle the multi-day canoe circuit in Bowron Lake Park can reserve sites for the 2026 peak season,” the ministry said in a release.

The ministry says that the 23-km-long (Google says 21 km) Berg Lake Trail is located between Valemont and Jasper and “showcases some of the best scenery in B.C., with stunning views of waterfalls, turquoise-coloured lakes and massive glaciers.”
It would make for quite a scenic road trip, as the Berg Lake Trail is roughly an eight-hour drive from the downtown Vancouver area.
There are seven backcountry campgrounds at Berg Lake located along the trail. The ministry points out that to visit between May 27 and Sept. 29, you must have a reservation.

Bowron Lake Park is around a nine-hour drive from Vancouver, and the ministry says it’s located on the western slopes of Cariboo Mountain near Barkerville. Bowron Lake features a canoe circuit that can take over a week to complete.
“The canoe circuit involves 116 kilometres of paddling across 10 lakes with several portages. It takes six to 10 days to complete, depending on paddlers’ skill level,” the ministry says.
“Those looking for a shorter trip can paddle the west side of the circuit, which takes two to four days. Reservations are required from May 15 until Sept. 27.”
The ministry warns that reservations are filling up fast, and to book, you can visit the BC Parks website. If you’d prefer to skip the adventure of navigating the BC Parks website, you can also call 1-800-689-9025.
