Alberta is a travel hot spot thanks to its natural beauty, and one spot in the province was just named one of the best in Canada for a very lovely reason.
The team at Alberta Motor Association (AMA) Travel, which is Western Canada’s largest travel agency, rounded up a list of the best places to visit in Canada, and it’s not a huge surprise that an Alberta spot made the cut.
While Alberta is known across the country for its dazzling nature, like Moraine Lake in Banff National Park, and the vast hiking trails in Jasper National Park, a spot that’s a little less busy was selected.
To experience Canada’s natural beauty that’s a bit off the beaten path, AMA Travel tapped Waterton Lakes National Park.

The national park, nestled in the southwestern Alberta Rockies, has a mountain range that slides south into Montana’s Glacier National Park, which is one that “often flies under the radar of many travellers.”
AMA Travel added that locals love the area for its unassuming vibe, stunning hikes, and natural beauty, pointing to things like Waterton’s Crypt Lake hike and Bear’s Hump.
A must-mention for the national park has got to be Red Rock Canyon, which is surrounded by towering trees and majestic wildlife.
Alberta has been landing some serious recognition as of late, being tapped by National Geographic as a top travel destination for 2026, one ski resort was recently named among the best in the world, and it was also named as having one of the best ice fishing spots in Canada.
