Metro Vancouver restaurant and bar will close after 15 years and people are heartbroken

The Metro Vancouver restaurant scene has unfortunately suffered another casualty, and this time, it’s the longstanding Townhall Public House located in Langley.

Located at 19640 64 Avenue, the 15-year-old restaurant and bar will close its doors by the end of February.

“We’ve made the bittersweet decision to sell the location, and while it’s the end of an era for us, we’re excited to see what the new owners have in store when they take over in March,” shared Townhall on Instagram.

As for a reason for the closure, Townhall shared that “business has been tough, and after 15 years, we felt it was time to sell and let someone else bring in something new to the neighbourhood.”

Many took to the comments to express their heartbreak at the closure announcement.

“This has been one of our favourite places to have dates. Been going there since we got married in 2013,” shared one Instagram user.

“Many great times here in my 20s! Thanks for the memories,” said another.

“Oh no! This is sad. Will miss the nights of dancing and then the hangover brunch the next morning,” shared a third.

However, the restaurant plans to go out in style with plenty of events like Super Bowl Sunday on February 9, Valentine’s Day on February 14, and closing weekend parties on both February 21 and 22.

Plus, Townhall’s Maple Ridge and Chilliwack locations will remain open.

Townhall is one of the many restaurants owned by the Joseph Richard Group of Companies (JRG). They also own The Henry, Oak and Thorne, and The Buck and Ear, just to name a few.

At the start of 2024, JRG closed Livelyhood, a Port Moody restaurant best known for its comfort eats. Then, in September 2024, the group closed S+L Kitchen and Bar in Surrey. The group also filed for creditor protection back in July 2023.

Dished has reached out to JRG for comment.
