Michelin-recognized Vancouver restaurant seeks help for staff following building fire

Song by Kin Kao, a Thai restaurant in Vancouver, is seeking community support after a fire on July 27 forced the restaurant to temporarily close.
“Late last night, a fire broke out at our restaurant, causing significant damage and bringing operations to an unexpected halt. While we’re incredibly grateful that no one was physically hurt, our team — our family — is now facing an uncertain and difficult time,” said the restaurant.
“We are gutted, heartbroken, but not defeated!” co-owner Terrence Feng told Dished. “While we navigate this process, we remain positive and prioritizing our staff’s well-being and financial situation first and foremost, then getting back to business in a timely manner.”
The business has since started a GoFundMe to support its staff during its temporary closure while the restaurant navigates the process of cleaning up, restoring, and getting back on its feet.

“We’ve created this GoFundMe to support them during this period of recovery. 100 per cent of the donations will go directly to our team to help with essential expenses like rent, groceries, and transportation while we work through the damage and rebuild,” said Song.
