We checked out downtown Vancouver's new ice cream shop offering 80+ flavours

Those who have gone to the recently opened Rec Room on Granville may have noticed signs for a new ice cream shop opening across the street with a familiar name: Ricardo’s. Well, at least we did. So when we had the chance to sneak in ahead of its opening to learn all the details of this new shop, we had to take the chance.
For those who are fans of candy, ice cream, and anything sweet, Ricardo’s is most likely a familiar name. In 2021, Ricardo’s opened its first candy store in White Rock, called Ricardo’s Kandy Korner, offering a variety of popular and hard-to-find confections.
Since 2021, Ricardo’s has opened two other candy stores, one in Vancouver and another in Toronto. It also started an ice cream shop in White Rock and has expanded the concept to this new Vancouver location.
All the same fun candy-fueled aesthetic can be found in this latest location as well, whether it’s from the ice cream lights illuminating the sign to the wall of dipped cones or the pink and white tree seemingly growing up the back wall. This is not only a dessert lovers’ dream but a great spot for those wanting to snap the perfect Instagram picture.

This location is the first of Ricardo’s to offer rolled gelato, and we were told the flavour combinations were almost endless. During our visit, we got to try a rolled Dunkaroos gelato and watched as an actual package of Dunkaroos, with both icing and cookies, was combined with gelato to make this tasty creation (with a generous portion of whipped cream and sprinkles on top as well).
With over 80 flavours of ice cream available, ranging from bubble gum to ube, this spot will satisfy any sweet tooth.

And if the ice cream wasn’t enough of a draw for you, Ricardo’s also has a lineup of housemade pastries (courtesy of owner Ricardo’s sister), alongside a lineup of coffee beverages and bubble tea. We tried what we were told was the “best pistachio latte in Vancouver,” served with a hefty portion of pistachios around the rim, and enjoyed it considerably.
Whether you want a sweet treat before your next concert, a simple coffee and pastry, or some simple relief from the incoming hot summer weather, Ricardo’s is your one-stop destination for everything sweet and delicious. Plus, you’re just a block away from Ricardo’s Kandy Korner, meaning more sweets are just a quick walk away.
Ricardo’s Ice Cream opens its Vancouver location on Friday, Feb. 28, at noon.
