The awards just won’t stop coming, and Vancouver is getting its fair share of time in the limelight. This time, two Vancouver restaurants were named among the best in all of North America, and a Whistler eatery was also mentioned.

North America’s 50 Best Restaurants (from the same organization behind the World’s 50 Best) unveiled its 2026 list at its prestigious ceremony in New Orleans last night, and there was plenty of Canadian representation.

The highest-ranked spot in Canada was Eight in Calgary, which landed in the number two spot and was closely followed by Restaurant Pearl Morissette at number three. The number one spot went to Smyth in Chicago.

As for Vancouver locations, the highest-ranked spot in our city was Published on Main landing itself at 17.

“We are honoured and proud to be named to North America’s 50 Best Restaurants for the second year in a row,” said Gus Stieffenhofer-Brandson, chef-partner at Published on Main.

“This recognition puts us in such great company, and it belongs to our incredible team, who pour their energy and passion into every single service because they love what they do. Accolades like this keep us going. But most importantly of all, thank you to our guests for continuing to believe in us and enjoy meals at our table. That is something we will never take for granted.”

Since it opened in 2019, Published on Main has received numerous accolades, including a Michelin Star, among many others. The menu here aims to highlight B.C.’s incredible food through its farmers, foragers, fishers, and local producers. Over 90 per cent of its ingredients are sourced locally and sustainably.

The other Vancouver spot on the list is AnnaLena, also a Michelin-starred restaurant, which ranked at 35.

Located steps away from Kitsilano Beach, the restaurant has been owned by Chef Michael Robbins and operations manager Jeff Parr since 2015. Here, the restaurant exclusively offers a multi-course tasting menu focused on seasonal local farms and suppliers alongside wine pairings and cocktails.

But Vancouver is not the only B.C. destination to have a restaurant on the top 50 list, as Whistler’s Wild Blue came in at 47. In 2023, the restaurant was also named one of the best new restaurants in Canada. It’s best known for its elevated Pacific Northwest cuisine, sustainable seafood, and local ingredients.
