Vancouver favourite for Italian street food to open a new location outside the city
It’s no secret that Italian food is taking Metro Vancouver by storm, with multiple Italian restaurants having recently opened. Now, a much-loved Vancouver Italian concept is gearing up to expand outside of the location with its third location.
Nonna’s Cucina shared that it will be opening in Coquitlam in the former location of That Place Italian Restaurant.
“Famiglia, we have to admit! We’ve been holding a secret or two for a while now… and we just have one word to tell you… COQUITLAM,” shared the restaurant.

For those unfamiliar, Nonna’s Cucina was founded in 2021 as a Port Moody-based food truck specializing in Italian street food. In April 2022, the spot opened its first brick-and-mortar location at 2166 East Hastings St., Vancouver.
It’s best known for its classic line of fire-roasted paninis in a variety of flavours, such as classic Caprese, Nonna’s Meatballs, and Roasted Italian Sausage with Peperonata, alongside a selection of pasta.

Last year, Nonna’s expanded with the opening of its second location at 1728 Commercial Dr., Vancouver.
An exact opening date has yet to be shared.
