One thing seems to remain true for Vancouver: there’s always something new and exciting to eat, and last month was no exception.

In January, Dished reported on a number of new restaurants and cafes that joined the local dining scene, serving all sorts of great eats and sips.

From a pizzeria serving the largest deliverable pizza in the world to havens for matcha and chai, these are some of the most exciting new restaurants to check out in and around Vancouver.

Tayybeh

The beloved Syrian restaurant Tayybeh joins our list of new Vancouver restaurants after it officially moved to a new, larger space after the success of its original outpost in Kitsilano.

At its new outpost, customers will find a menu with plenty of authentic Syrian dishes prepared by Tayybeh’s experienced team of newcomer women chefs.

“The move to West Broadway allows Tayybeh to significantly expand its dine-in experience while remaining true to the flavours and traditions that have earned it a loyal following across Vancouver. Beyond daily dining, the new Mount Pleasant location allows for larger private event bookings in a warm, flexible space designed for connection,” wrote the restaurant.

It’s official: Paragon Tea Room has finally returned to Vancouver’s Cambie Village neighbourhood.

The tea and matcha hotspot has done some moving around over the years, and most recently had to close its location on Cambie Street due to the landlord wanting to make way for a new development.

Here, customers can expect all the great tea offerings Paragon has become known for in a space inspired by a Japanese tea garden.

Sula Cafe

The name Sula might be familiar to you already, as the cafe is brought to us in partnership with the much-loved (and celebrity-approved) Indian restaurant by the same name. So it’s safe to say you’ll find the same all-star service here as you would at any of its restaurant locations.

While addictively good chai is on the menu here, you’ll also find Kareena Fagwani from Alai helming the coffee program at Sula Cafe, with plenty of intriguing beverages landing on the menu.

Fans of the viral Dubai chocolate craze will be happy to discover taht Sula has its own version of the drink: the Malai Pista Mocha. White chocolate and pistachios are combined with a shot of espresso and frothed milk to create this warming (and addictive) drink. Plus, it’s topped with a decent serving of crumbled pistachios on top.

Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzeria — Vancouver

When it comes to big pizza, there’s no one who does it bigger than Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzeria.

The pizza here is so big, in fact, that the chain actually holds the record for the world’s largest deliverable pizza for its 54-inch by 54-inch pie called The Great Sicilian. These pies are so big that they can only be delivered in specially built cars, where the pizza is placed inside a box that sits on top of the car.

Now, the chain is joining the list of new Vancouver restaurants with the opening of its latest location.

“Taste the difference,” writes Big Mama’s and Papa’s. “Delicious pizzas, friendly vibes with fast service.”
