Longstanding downtown Vancouver grocery store closes after 10 years

It’s no secret that it’s been a rough couple of months for the restaurant industry, but it’s also been hard for local grocery stores as well. Many have been closing across Vancouver and we just received word that another longstanding Vancouver grocery store has closed its downtown location.
An employee from Meinhardt Fine Foods confirmed that the grocery store had closed its Pacific Centre, with its final day being March 31.
For those unfamiliar, Meinhardt has been serving the Vancouver community since 1997 at its first location in South Granville. In 2012, the store was acquired by Buy-Low Foods LP, and in 2015, it expanded to its second location in the heart of downtown Vancouver, at Pacific Centre. But don’t worry, its South Granville spot at 3002 Granville St. is still up and running.

Meinhardt is best known for its imported products, gourmet offerings, ready-to-eat items, and desserts.
Unfortunately, this is not the only specialty grocery store that has closed recently. Both Columbus Farm Market and Fresh Ideas Start Here (F.I.S.H.) announced that they plan to close in the next couple of months.
