The best cafes in Gastown for your next Vancouver coffee crawl

Vancouver is home to some epic cafes serving all sorts of delicious coffees and baked goods, and Gastown is no exception.

From beautiful spaces to places serving a killer cup of joe, you’ll be able to find plenty of great spots to aid you in fighting that afternoon slump.

But, with so many great cafes, it can be hard to choose which ones to visit.

That’s why we asked our followers on Instagram for their recommendations, and they definitely delivered. We compiled some of the most recommended spots to help inform your next Gastown coffee crawl.

Revolver

Perhaps the most recommended spot on our list, Revolver, has been a go-to coffee spot in Gastown for years. Featuring your standard coffee offerings alongside a rotating menu inside a trendy shop with roasted beans from all over for sale, Revolver is a must-visit when talking about cafes in Gastown.

Timbertrain

This train-themed cafe is another must-visit for those looking for good coffee in Gastown. The combination of killer coffee, passionate baristas, and a beautiful (aka wildly Instagrammable) coffee shop has established Timbertrain as a must-hit for coffee lovers in Vancouver. It also operates locations in the Grandview-Woodlands neighbourhood and Port Moody.

Milano Espresso Lounge

With multiple gold awards from coffee experts around the world, Milano Roasters espresso is world-renowned and conveniently located in Vancouver. With a wide array of espressos to try, you can be sure to find the right espresso for you. For those not in Gastown, Milano also operates two other spots (three if you count its other cafe concept, Turks on Commercial Drive).

Birds and the Beets

This cozy cafe faces both Alexander Street and Powell Street and has not only charming interiors but also fantastic food and coffee. Head here for lunch (we recommend the miso barley grain bowl!), a pastry, or your favourite coffee order.

Saunter Coffee

Serving up high-quality espresso drinks and a selection of baked goods – like really chewy-looking cookies – Saunter Coffee is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Prado Cafe

Prado started as a simple shop on Commercial Drive but has since expanded to operate six locations throughout Metro Vancouver. Known for its high-quality coffee, tasty pastries, and welcoming atmosphere, Prado is an easy recommendation for cafes in Gastown.

Nemesis

Known for its stunning spaces and brewing a killer cup of coffee (and, more recently, its viral mortadella breakfast sandwich), Nemesis should be on the radar of any coffee lover in Gastown. Whether you’re a coffee snob or someone just looking for their afternoon caffeine fix, Nemesis is the place to be. You can also visit its Polygon Gallery and Great Northern Way locations, as well as its brand-new Surrey location, opening on February 21.
