"Impossible for us to continue": Kid-friendly Vancouver cafe announces closure

The Vancouver restaurant closures keep coming as another establishment in the city has announced it will permanently shut its doors.
Circus Play Cafe — one of the city’s most kid-friendly spaces — announced the sad news on its Instagram account over the weekend.

“Itās with heavy hearts that we share Circus Play CafĆ© has been forced to close permanently. This was unexpected and not the way we wanted to say goodbye, but we are so incredibly grateful for everyone who has been part of our community, every moment here has meant so much to this team of incredible people,” stated the eatery in its caption.
The cafe cited “soaring rent, higher wages, inflation, and the increasing cost of goods and insurance” as placing an “unsustainable strain on [its] small business.”
Circus Play Cafe first opened in 2015 and created a space where parents could grab a bite to eat or connect over coffee, while also providing a fun play space for kids.
Over the years, Circus also hosted a variety of classes, workshops, and activities for little ones.
In its goodbye message, the cafe sent a heartfelt thank you to its patrons and staff.
“We are beyond grateful to our incredible staff, who have poured their hearts into making every visit special,” reads the post.
“To every family who walked through our doors, to every child who ran in with excitement, and to every parent who found a moment of rest here — thank you. Your support, your stories, and your smiles have meant everything to us.”
Circus Play joins several Metro Vancouver restaurants that have announced their closures this year.
Dished has reached out to Circus Play to confirm its closing date and we’ll update this piece when we hear back.
