Five Sails has officially reopened under new ownership

It might have new owners and an updated look, but Five Sails inside the Pan Pacific Hotel at Canada Place Pier has those same unparalleled views, and it’s officially reopened as of today.

The Vancouver landmark as we knew it closed back in December. Earlier this year, it was announced that the Glowbal Group would be taking over operations from previous owners Chef Ernst Dorfler and Gerry Sayers, who retired and sold Five Sails at the end of 2019.

Now open for lunch and dinner service, the restaurant has undergone an extensive renovation and been given a modern facelift.

With views of Stanley Park, Coal Harbour, and the North Shore Mountains, Five Sails offers seats for 139 people along with a private dining space for groups of up to 20 people.

“After a long period of uncertainty, we are thrilled to be reopening to our newly refurbished dining room and welcome back guests this week,” said Five Sails General Manager Christophe Chabre.

“With new lunch and dinner menus and a stunning updated interior, now is the perfect time to rediscover one of Vancouver’s favourite landmarks and experience fine West Coast cuisine while enjoying some of the best views in the city.”

Many longtime, recognizable staff members remain fixtures under the new ownership, including Chef Masa Mabuchi and Sommelier Ramon Fresneda, who’s been there for 20 years.

Patrons can head to Five Sails to enjoy West Coast fare daily for dinner service at 5 pm, and Monday to Friday for lunch service beginning at noon.

Be sure to check out this iconic spot’s new look and feel — you won’t regret it.
