On Thursday, April 26, a large fire broke out that resulted in minor damage to the Yaletown restaurant.
At the time, Daily Hive spoke with on-duty Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) Fire Chief Pierre Morin, who shared that fire crews were called out to the scene at the Empress Galleria building around 8 p.m. on the day.
“We found heavy smoke showing from the roof,” Morin said, which was followed by crews making entry.
Morin said they found fire in the venting system at Elisa restaurant. He also said that the fire alarms were activated, but not the sprinkler system.
“Crews were able to extinguish the fire fairly quickly,” Morin said.
