A large fire that broke out in Vancouver on Thursday evening has caused some minor damage to a restaurant in Yaletown.
Daily Hive spoke with on-duty Vancouver Fire Rescue Services Fire Chief Pierre Morin, who shared some details about the fire.
Fire crews were called out to the scene at the Empress Galleria building located on 1118 Homer St. at around 8 p.m.
“We found heavy smoke showing from the roof,” Morin said, which was followed by crews making entry.
Morin said they found fire in the venting system at Elisa restaurant.
“Crews were able to extinguish the fire fairly quickly,” Morin said.
The VFRS response seemed fairly large, as Morin said there were seven trucks and over 30 firefighters on scene.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, but there was some damage to the restaurant.
“There’s fire to the venting system and a bit of the ceiling, and there’s some heavy water damage in the restaurant,” Morin said.
