A 50-year-old restaurant in Vancouver is closing, but the owner's son is going to maintain its legacy

Unfortunately, another longstanding Vancouver restaurant, Flamingo Chinese House, will be closing its doors by the end of this month.
“After a wonderful run, our team is ready to hang up their aprons and enjoy a well-earned retirement,” shared the restaurant on its website.
Flamingo Chinese House opened its doors in 1974 in the Victoria-Fraserview neighbourhood. It serves a selection of traditional Cantonese cuisine and dim sum.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to the multiple generations of devoted customers who have supported us, and to all of our past and current staff for their dedicated service,” added the restaurant.

In the closure announcement, the restaurant also went on to share that it will be passing to Little Bird Dim Sum, where its recipes will live on for a new generation.
Little Bird Dim Sum is a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant owned by Jonathan Lee, who is the son of Flamingo House’s owner Joseph Lee.
Here, the restaurant is serving what it calls “Vancouverās legendary dim sum paired with British Columbiaās best craft beers.” Coincidentally, it is one of Seth Rogen’s favourite Vancouver spots.
The menu here includes everything from siu mai, steamed pork buns, and sticky rice to curry squid, fried wontons, and a crispy bean curd roll.
You can visit Flamingo Chinese House until its final day of service on Sept. 28.
