The ground’s lack of snow may indicate otherwise, but we’re two weeks away from the big day and we’ve got five things worth checking out in Montreal today, December 11, to help feel like you get to Christmas a little quicker.

Imagine Van Gogh

Montreal has been coated with an exhibition of the works of Vincent Van Gogh, the Dutch post-impressionist painter who is among the most famous figures in the history of the art world.

The exhibition, Imagine Van Gogh, which opened last week, takes guests through the world of colours and emotions of Van Gogh’s works through gigantic murals and an immersive soundtrack.

Patrick Watson

Patrick Watson, the Montreal-native singer-songwriter returned home for a show on Tuesday and he’s back at it again tonight, bringing his blend of cabaret pop, classical music, and indie rock to the MTelus theatre.

Luminothérapie

Place des Festivals is lit.

The Quartier des Spectacles’ public square is hosting the 10th edition of Luminothérapie through Pop!, a celebration of five fantastical creatures that aim to light up the city during the dark days of winter.

Because if anything can lighten up our bleak winter, it’s Luminothérapie, Quebec’s largest temporary public art installation.

‘Get It Off My Chest!’ is a satirical performance that “questions the expression of difference in the world where the ordinary gets along with the need for recognition.”

The comedy show deals with hot topics as nine colourful characters share their unique insight of today’s world.

Joey Elias – Bishop and Gags

Bishop & Bagg is closing up their appropriately titled Bishop and Gags comedy show until the new year and they’re closing it out in style with the likes of respected Montreal comedian Joey Elias.

The show is of the pay-what-you-can variety, a pretty good steal considering Elias usually headlines the big clubs around the city.

Enter the midweek with some laughs at one of the most extensive gin pubs in Montreal.
