Montreal has been coated with an exhibition of the works of Vincent Van Gogh, the Dutch post-impressionist painter who is among the most famous figures in the history of the art world.

The exhibition, Imagine Van Gogh, which opened on Thursday, takes guests through the world of colours and emotions of Van Gogh’s works through gigantic murals and an immersive soundtrack.

First presented in Europe, Imagine Van Gogh is the work of artists Annabelle Mauger and Julien Baron. Their approach is to fuse technology with classical art through the use of more than 200 works by the famous painter.

Montreal’s Van Gogh exhibition highlights the works of the Arles period (1888-1889) and the end of his life (1890).

Works include Sunflowers, Irises, Starry Night, Wheat Fields, pieces from his Japanesery series, La Mousmé, Portrait of Dr. Gachet, and Van Gogh’s famous self-portrait.

Mauger and Baron have also chosen what they call “an appropriate” soundtrack to go along with the gigantic murals.

The exhibition takes place at the former Arsenal contemporary art shipyard in the heart of Griffintown. The showing is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 10 am and 6 pm from now until February 2nd, 2020.

Here are a few pictures, showing how the Montreal debut of the exhibition looked in the virtual world.
