Warmer days are bringing a surge of construction activity across Edmonton, and chances are it’s affecting your commute, regardless of where you live.
From traffic disruptions to major developments, here are five construction projects around Edmonton we’ve been following in 2025:
Enoch Cree Nation

The Enoch Cree Nation is in the midst of a major development project just west of Edmonton, building water and wastewater mains, roads and utilities. Announced in March, the project also includes funding for an Elders lodge, cultural centre, health facility, and commercial space, with up to $1 billion in potential investment.
The 256-acre development aims to diversify the nation’s economy and expand community services. It also comes off the heels of the River Cree Resort and Casino’s groundbreaking in late September for its $200 million expansion, including a new hotel, pool area, and dining options.
Both are expected to be completed by 2027.
Stony Plain Community Recreation Facility

Town of Stony Plain
Major construction on a new recreation centre is underway for a town just outside of Edmonton, and it sounds pretty swanky. Construction on a Community Recreation Facility began in late March and will feature community spaces, a walking and running track, a turf field, two multipurpose sports courts, pickleball courts, a six-sheet curling facility, and a concession area.
Jasper Avenue between 114 Street and 117 Street
City of Edmonton
The City of Edmonton has reduced Jasper Avenue to one lane in each direction between 114 Street and 117 Street for utility relocation and roadwork as part of the Imagine Jasper project, an initiative aimed at revitalizing the avenue with wider sidewalks, enhanced street furniture, landscaping, improved lighting, and full roadway reconstruction.
The disruptions are expected to last until October 31.
Stony Plain Road and 124 Street

City of Edmonton
Beginning early next week, the intersection of Stony Plain Road and 124 Street will be closed to all vehicle traffic for approximately eight weeks to accommodate Valley Line West LRT construction. The full closure is expected to last approximately eight weeks; however, construction in the area will continue beyond that until the LRT project is completed in 2028.
Williams Hall

Beljan Developments
Williams Hall, a mixed-use redevelopment of the former Downtown YMCA, is under construction at 10030 102A Ave. NW.
The project will include a microbrewery, food hall, retail market, wellness centre, office space and four levels of residential units. Located near the Ice District and Churchill Square, it will offer pedway and parkade access.
Completion is expected in 2026.
