Major disruptions to last for months on a busy street in downtown Edmonton

If your commute includes the west end of Jasper Avenue in downtown Edmonton, you can expect major disruptions due to construction over the spring and summer months.
The City of Edmonton has reduced Jasper Avenue to one lane in each direction between 114 Street and 117 Street for utility relocation and roadwork as part of the Imagine Jasper project.
Imagine Jasper aims to revitalize the avenue with wider sidewalks, enhanced street furniture, landscaping, improved lighting, and full roadway reconstruction.
The project included two lanes of traffic in each direction, shorter pedestrian crossings, and new amenities like benches and bike racks.

Phase 2, which covers Jasper Avenue from 114 Street to 124 Street, follows the upgrades completed between 109 Street and 114 Street.
In addition to the lane reduction, access to and from 115th Street and 117th Street north of Jasper Avenue will be closed. Eastbound and westbound left turns will also be banned at 114th Street.
