Calgary’s food scene is a constant revolving door of closures and openings, but the beauty is that there is always something new to try.

However, it can be hard to stay in the loop when it comes to all the delicious new offerings making their way to the city. So we’ve done the hard work for you, compiling a list of exciting new spots that are set to open their doors in August.

From a huge international chain to a brand-new cafe concept from one of the city’s most exciting brands, here are the biggest openings to have on your radar next month.

While we were sad to hear that Britannia restaurant Primary Colours would be closing its doors, an exciting new project is set to take over the space.

Monogram Coffee will soon be opening its new flagship location. Calgarians will not only be able to get their hands on the brand’s award-winning coffee, but the spot will also have a full kitchen and bakery, inspired by the team’s favourite cafe experiences from around the world.

Just a few weeks after opening its first YYC outpost, Dave’s Hot Chicken is gearing up to open its second in Calgary’s Beacon Hill neighbourhood in August.

The spot is known for its chicken tenders, sliders, which can be customized to one of seven different heat levels, from zero spice right up to its legendary tear-inducing “Reaper” heat.

Monki Breakfast Club & Bistro – Seton

Monki Breakfast Club & Bistro is gearing up to open its fifth location in the city, with its newest outpost in Seton.

Decadent brunches are the name of the game here, with a menu packed with everything from waffles and eggs Benedict to French toast, poutine and more.

Some Monki favourites include the reverse French toast, served with cream cheese, strawberry compote, and a white chocolate and hazelnut drizzle.

After two decades, Crave Cupcakes announced it would be closing its Kensington location, but when one door closes, another opens. Quite literally.

Just a few minutes away in Hillhurst, Crave also shared the exciting announcement that it would be opening a Calgary outpost of its new concept, CeCe’s Coffee. The spot will still serve Crave favourites, alongside coffee, tea and a fresh cafe menu.

CeCe’s Coffee is slated to open in mid-August.
