Canada’s premier hand roll bar is opening its first location in Calgary

It’s been a long time coming, but Calgary is finally seeing a hand roll revolution. Now, a popular restaurant chain specializing in hand rolls is finally making its way to the city.
Hello Nori has officially confirmed that its first Calgary outpost is in the works, with the new spot slated to open in Bridgeland in early 2026.
“Bringing Hello Nori to Calgary is about more than just great food, it’s about growing with a new team and sharing the heart of Japanese craftsmanship with a new community,” said Jay Pugong, corporate head chef at Hello Nori.
“We’re excited to bring the same quality, culture, and hospitality that define who we are.”

Known as Canada’s “premier hand roll bar,” Hello Nori’s restaurant design will draw inspiration from the forests of the Pacific Northwest, featuring a sculptural wooden ceiling — a touch that has become synonymous with the restaurant.
Diners in Calgary will soon be able to try Hello Nori’s menu of 16 different varieties of hand rolls, featuring options such as Bluefin tuna, Snow crab, truffle lobster, and Hokkaido scallop.

Each roll is handcrafted to order, ensuring the nori remains crisp and the rice remains warm. They’re available a la carte or as set menus of four, five, or six rolls.
The new YYC outpost forms part of Hello Nori’s aims to open 20 restaurants across Canada, with several already open in B.C. and Toronto.
