What: The festival invites photographers, star-gazers, and sunset chasers alike up to the top of Sulphur Mountain for a view of Alberta’s most beautiful skies. The events run from 4 to 8 pm on the observation deck, where attendees will be able to enjoy special cocktails, smores, and live entertainment during the natural light show.

What’s up with Bow Habitat Station

What: Explore Alberta’s wildlife and natural spaces on the first Friday of the month. Visit investigation stations in the Discovery Centre to discover the wildlife that make their home right here in Calgary! Join in a large group activity at 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm or 2:30 pm to discover how wildlife has adapted to city life with special guests from Alberta Parks. Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society will be hosting an investigation station all about some furry and feathered friends you might find in our city. Hands-on activities are designed for learners ages two and up.

Cabin Party 2019

What: Cabin Party is a two-day, adults-only event being held to raise money for Survive and Thrive — a program that helps young adult cancer survivors live their best lives — and will take place this April. The event is expected to feature a wide variety of epic adventures and delicious drinks.

Brewster Banff Gondola

What: Head to the summit for an unreal view above the treetops and a birds-eye view of six different mountain ranges, while sipping on coffee or a refreshing glass of wine. Start with a walk along the Sulphur Mountain Boardwalk to learn more about Canada’s first national park, or go indoors to sample from three restaurant menus. Then get hands-on in the world-class interpretive centre and theatre.

Cardboard Box Downhill Derby

What: Get creative with cardboard for the annual Cardboard Box Downhill Derby – Easter Sunday Edition. Using only cardboard, string, tape and glue, prove your cardboard carpentry by building the fastest sled in town! Prizes will be given for top three times and the best three designs. Get your teams of 1-4 people together and challenge your neighbors and friends to out-design, out-wit and out-sled your creation.

Kananaskis Outfitters Stargazing Snowshoe tour

What: Taking groups of adventurers out into the cold via moonlight (and headlamps), the tour will show snowshoers a side of Kananaskis Country that they may have never seen before. Hiking through Kananaskis forest and under a star-filled sky, attendees will ultimately end up in an open meadow to enjoy the cosmos. Bringing a tripod and a camera is encouraged for anyone hoping to get that priceless photo, and anyone will be able to take a look through the supplied telescope to get a closer look at the twinkling lights.

Heritage Park Ghost Tours 2019

What: Curious Calgarians will have a chance to learn about the ghostly figures that haunt their city by taking a Heritage Park Ghost Tour this spring. Each tour is 90 minutes long and will take attendees through the alleyways and streets of the Historical Village and verse them in various spooky stories that will make their skin crawl. They depart from Gasoline Alley at 7 and 7:30 pm, though the truly terrified would be wise to choose the earlier, brighter tour.

NSD Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs at Calaway Park

What: National Service Dogs’ Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs (and some treats for kids too) is a family event that includes your furry baby. Each year, thousands of plastic eggs are filled with dog treats and hidden over a defined area of a local park. Each egg contains a dog treat and a sticker, representing a chance to win one of hundreds of great prizes. Registrants receive two egg cartons, giving them the opportunity to collect up to 24 eggs.

All monies raised (family registration fee is $25) support NSD’s award-winning Certified Service Dogs for Autism, Certified Service Dogs for PTSD and Canine Assisted Intervention programs.

Free Brewery Tours at Red Bison Brewery

What: The tour starts off with an explanation of Red Bison’s name and why founder Steve started the brewery. Attendees will then see the homebrew system Steve used to brew beer on the balcony of his downtown Calgary condo, and talk about malt and how each of the flavours impact the recipes. After this, it’s a walk through the processes for the brew day and the fermentation process.
