Vancouver Island may not have the bustling paparazzi scene of Los Angeles, but it was a magnet for some celebrities in 2024.

Hollywood’s power couple Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union also added a splash of star power to Victoria’s culinary scene when they dined at Shuck Taylor’s Oyster Bar this past fall. Union, known for her roles in Bring It On and 10 Things I Hate About You, was in town filming an upcoming horror film, Casket Girls.

Nanaimo turned post-apocalyptic this spring as Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey joined the HBO hit The Last of Us crew for a five-week shoot. There were no reports (that we know of) of any celebrity sighting, but we do know that Diana Krall Plaza transformed into a cinematic playground for the series.

Much like the Last of Us cast, there are no reports of Phillipe in the city, but Victoria’s streets became the set for a Hollywood thriller as Ryan Phillippe starred in and produced One Mile and its sequel. Locals got a sneak peek of scenes filmed near Capital Park this past September.

Grammy-winning icon P!NK made waves in Lake Cowichan during her trip to BC. After dazzling Vancouver with back-to-back concerts in September, she stopped by Jakes at the Lake, where staff and fans alike were thrilled by her down-to-earth charm. She even shared a moment with concertgoers heading to her show in Vancouver.

Victoria and Vancouver Island continued to attract A-list visitors, proving it’s more than just a serene getaway.
