Conversations are on the menu at new Metro Vancouver cafe
You’ll find plenty of familiar options at New Westminster’s You N Me Cafe. Coffee, teas, and… conversations?
That’s right, folks visiting You N Me Cafe can order a conversation, and it’s free of charge. This is also why it’s dubbed the “Humanity Cafe.”
“‘Humanity Cafe’ isn’t a slogan we painted on the wall and moved on from. It’s a set of decisions about how this place runs, most of them small enough that you’d only notice if you knew to look,” writes the cafe on its website.
As for how folks can order a conversation, it’s as simple as coming in and asking.
“You can talk. You can vent. You can cry. You can share your story. You can celebrate your win. Or you can simply sit with another human being. There’s no right way to do it. There’s no minimum. There’s nothing you have to say,” added You N Me. And yes, it really is free.
When it comes to who you’ll be talking to, it will be the owner, Amrin, whenever she’s there; otherwise, it will be whoever is on shift.

However, the team does want to make sure folks know that this is not therapy, counselling, crisis support, or professional mental-health treatment.
“If what you’re carrying is heavier than a conversation, we’ll say so kindly, and we keep information about local services behind the counter for exactly that reason,” said the cafe.
You N Me also offers different events throughout the week, like game nights, coworking mornings, and more.
But don’t worry, you can also stop in for a quick coffee and bite as well. The menu here consists of coffee, chai, bubble tea, and Mumbai street food.
