After what appears to be the last blast of heat as we count down the final days of summer in Vancouver, the weather forecast seems to be taking a turn for the cooler with fall around the corner.
According to the weather forecast from Environment and Climate Change Canada, Vancouver’s daytime highs are expected to average around 21°C between now and Friday, with overnight lows averaging around 13°C during the same period.
However, after that, temperatures are currently forecast to drop to near single digits.
While we’re technically already in meteorological fall, the autumnal equinox is on Monday, Sept. 22. On the eve of the equinox, the overnight low is forecast to be a relatively chilly 11˚C, the lowest overnight low we’ve seen in quite some time.

Accompanying the cooler temperatures is a healthy dose of rain, and there’s a 60 per cent chance of showers listed in the forecast for the entire weekend. Current temperatures represent seasonal norms for this time of year.
If you are hoping for cooler weather to be the norm for the rest of the year, you might want to temper your expectations a bit. In the last couple of years, B.C. has experienced warmer-than-normal conditions in October.
In October 2023, several warm-weather records were actually broken. In 2024, B.C. experienced a dose of sunny and warm conditions in October before temperatures cooled down.
So far this year, while summer conditions in Vancouver were relatively mild, with small phases of extreme heat, other parts of B.C. experienced different and much more extreme weather.
For example, Lytton reached the hottest temperature that Canada has seen all year, breaking multiple weather records. It broke another record for the hottest September temperature on record.
Are you excited about the cooler fall weather in Vancouver as spooky season approaches? Or are you sad to see summer conditions come to an end?
