Movember Undie Run 2019

Undie Run,

Undie Run, Vancouver (VYVE)

What: Movember Foundation and SAXX Underwear are hosting their second Movember Undie Run in Vancouver on Saturday, November 9. The event starts at 12 pm at Brewhall in Olympic Village, and with the weather getting cold, you must be a brave one to run 2 km in your underwear. All funds raised through ticket sales will go directly to Movember and help support programs and research for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s mental health and suicide prevention.

Tickets will include a swag bag with a complimentary pair of SAXX underwear, MO perks, and access to the after-party with a complementary drink and snacks. The first 200 people will also receive a limited-edition Movember toque in their swag bag.

EAT! Vancouver Food + Cooking Festival 2019

What: The annual festival, now in its 18th year, is one of Canada’s “most anticipated premium world-class culinary festivals,” and it supports the BC Breast Cancer Foundation. This year’s events include signature events like EAT! Harvest, the EAT! Dinner Series, and the new EAT! Pastry Day along with exciting chef collaborations.

Burnaby Artisan Farmers’ Market

What: Launched in June 2008, this open-air market, situated in the North Parking Lot of Burnaby City Hall, offers visitors an assortment of food and craft stalls to peruse on Saturday mornings every Saturday until “at least Christmas” and possibly longer.

Bear Creek Park Lights

What: Explore illuminated trees and light displays throughout the water park and playground at Bear Creek Park. On opening and closing night, guests will be treated to family-friendly activities at a kids zone, food trucks, and roving performers. Visitors on November 9 will also enjoy music, performers, and food presented by RED FM.

Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker

What: Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker tells the classic holiday tale with over 200 stunning costumes, dazzling sets, soaring birds, and towering puppets.

City and Colour

What: City and Colour is swinging by Vancouver during a cross-continent tour this fall. City and Colour has seven platinum-certified albums and three gold-certified albums in Canada. His latest studio release, I Should Go Before You, hit number one on the Top 200 Soundscan, and marked his third consecutive chart-topping album in the country. He’s also made some waves outside of the Canadian music scene, hitting number 16 on the US Billboard 200 Chart and worked with P!nk on a duet that debuted number one in Canada, number two in Australia, and number four in the US.

The Christmas Store at Potters

What: Potters Nursery has made its annual transformation into the 28,000-sq-ft Christmas Store at Potters. Themed areas include a 3,000-sq-ft “Dark Room,” illuminated by themed tree lights, Petland, and the Nutcracker Room, to name a few. New this year is the store’s very own Whoville, a space dedicated to a wide variety of Grinch-themed items, such as teddy bears, ornaments, mugs, and snow globes.

In addition over 50,000 themed ornaments, toys, games, and stocking stuffers for both kids, adults, and pets, the store will offer food demos and live music on weekends to liven up the Christmas atmosphere.

Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes

Brittany Howard/Live Nation

What: Brittany Howard, the frontwoman and guitarist for Alabama Shakes, is performing a solo concert at the Commodore Ballroom with guests. Leading the four-time Grammy Award-winning group, Howard has performed everywhere from the Obama White House to the main stage at Lollapalooza, where she sang with Paul McCartney.

Cannabinoid Chemistry & Legislation 

What: Learn about the cannabis plant and the history and trajectory of regulations in Canada from chartered chemist and university instructor Thomas Ulanowski. This interactive class will also examine the evolution and botany of cannabis.

Out of Concealment – Female Supernatural Beings of Haida Gwaii

What: Bill Reid Gallery presents the Vancouver premiere of Terri-Lynn Williams-Davidson’s solo exhibition, Out of Concealment. Williams-Davidson honours Indigenous feminine power by re-imagining supernatural figures from Haida tradition. Her vivid portraits — which feature Williams-Davidson herself — use creative design, photographic collage, and subtle integration of designs by celebrated Haida artist Robert Davidson.
