Run in your undies this November and raise money for men's health

Nov 5 2019, 8:05 pm

Have you recently had the burning desire to run around in the street in your underwear? Perhaps you’ve just watchedĀ Old SchoolĀ and ā€” inspired by the moves of Will Farrell ā€” wanted to showcase your own talents too (but in a slightly more clothed manner).

If you’re a male (or female) in Vancouver or Toronto on November 9, you can do this by taking part in the annualĀ Movember Undie Run. Participants will run two kilometres in nothing but their SAXX Underwear (okay, shoes are allowed too… and maybe some mittens and toques) to help raise funds for men’s health.

Undie Run 2018/Movember

All funds raised through ticket sales for both Undie Runs will go directly to Movember, supporting important men’s health issues including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health ā€” including suicide prevention.

Shocking statistics make it all the more important to give back to these causes. Not only do Canadian men die four years earlier than women, but one in nine men will have prostate cancer in their lifetime, 75% of suicides are men, and testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young males.

Not tempted to run through the streets in fall (okay, maybe winter-like depending on where you are in the country) temperatures in your underwear? There are lots of different ways to give back to MovemberĀ this month.

Create a Mo Space when you sign up at Movember.comĀ ā€” this lets you choose to get involved and raise funds in one of three ways. If facial hair is more your thing, grow a moustache and encourage your family and friends to donate to your Mo’.

But don’t worry if you struggle to grow facial hair and rocking a moustache simply isn’t an option ā€” you can still raise funds for the cause by signing up to host or move.

If hosting an event comes naturally to your inner party planner, why not round up your pals for a potluck or hockey tournament for a great cause?

Alternatively, if you’re a fitness enthusiast, choose to move by walking or running 60 km throughout the course of the month ā€” this distance stands for the 60 men we lose globally to suicide every hour. Of course,Ā taking part in the Movember Undie Run is a great way to get those kilometres in. We believe in you!

Not forgetting the fact that you can donate to your family, friends, and colleagues, supporting their efforts (facial hair or not) this Movember.

Undie Run 2018/Movember

Tickets to the Undie Run in Toronto or Vancouver won’t just give you the opportunity to run around the city in your underwear. Runners will also receive a swag bag and their own pair of SAXX underwear.

After the run, undie runners can warm up with a free drink and snacks at the Undie Run after-party. If you’re the first 200 to sign up, you’ll also receive a limited-edition Movember toque. Sounds like an ideal way to warm up if you ask us.

Men (and women) over 18 looking to run for a good cause this November 9 should grab their tickets as soon as possible. After all, the first 200 get that limited-edition toque!
