Henrik Sedin's teenage son signs with Vancouver Whitecaps organization
Henrik Sedin’s son is quickly ascending the soccer ranks.
Valter Sedin originally joined the Whitecaps FC pre-academy back in August 2020. Six years later, he has officially signed with the Whitecaps FC 2, which is the reserve club for the MLS franchise.
The Whitecaps announced on Thursday that they had signed Sedin to a contract that runs until June 2028.

“Iām excited to be back at the club and to sign a professional contract,” Sedin said in a press release. “Iām looking forward to continuing to develop my game, and to continue pushing forward in my career.”
Sedin has steadily risen up the organizational ranks since joining the club in 2020 as a 13-year-old. He helped the ‘Caps U17 team reach the MLS Next Gen quarterfinals in 2024. In that same year, Sedin earned a call-up to the Whitecaps FC2 squad that he just signed with.
The son of Vancouver Canucks legend Henrik has also been making waves on the international soccer scene as well.
He was a late addition to Canada’s Concacaf U20 squad this summer, where he was part of a team that nearly qualified for the Olympics. Sedin even scored his first international goal for Canada during the group stage.

“Valter grew through our academy program before testing himself in Sweden,ā Whitecaps CEO and Sporting Director Axel Schuster said in a press release.
“He is a young player who has always had the right mentality, and he did very well in helping Canada qualify for the U-20 World Cup. We look forward to continuing to work with him in his development.”
The next step for the 6-foot-1 teenager will be to make his mark in the Whitecaps FC 2 circuit. If he does, the midfielder could follow in the footsteps of Ali Ahmed, Rayan Elloumi, and Jeevan Badwal as players who’ve signed with the Whitecaps after impressive stints with the reserve club.
