'I love that place': Cobie Smulders dishes on her favourite Vancouver restaurant
We recently had the pleasure of chatting with Vancouver-born actress Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother, The Avengers) about some of her favourite spots in and around the city, and one Vancouver restaurant was at the top of her list: The Mackenzie Room.
“I will shout to the mountains, to the top of Grouse Mountain, my love of The Mackenzie Room,” Smulders told Dished. “It’s my favourite restaurant in Vancouver.”
Smulders also added that the restaurant was started by a friend of hers from high school, and every time she’s in Vancouver, she makes sure to go.
“[When I’m in Vancouver] I have to stop by, and if I’m not able to, it’s really disappointing,” added Smulders.
The Mackenzie Room first opened its doors in 2015 and has become renowned for its casual fine dining. It’s also been a Michelin Guide-recommended restaurant ever since the restaurant guide made its debut in the city back in 2022.
The restaurant is best known for its selection of tasting menus, including its “Riding Solo” option, which offers a five-course tasting menu for solo diners.
“They’re just the best, and it’s a really delicious meal. I love that place, and anytime anyone asks for recommendations, it’s at the top of my list,” said Smulders.

This isn’t the first time that Smulders has shouted out the Vancouver restaurant. In 2024, Smulders shouted out the restaurant, saying, “It’s my favourite restaurant, maybe in the world.”
She’s also shared love for Hobbs Pickles and Vancouver’s patio scene, alongside Please! Beverage Co.
“Please is a big go-to for me. I just really love their drinks, and I really love everybody involved. They also have an espresso martini on tap,” said Smulders previously.
