A large crowd gathered for a Stop Asian Hate rally held in downtown Vancouver on Sunday afternoon.

Vancouver Police estimated 1,000 people showed up for the event at the Vancouver Art Gallery, including former mayor Gregor Robertson and his wife, Eileen Park.

The former Premier of BC, Ujjal Dosanjh, was also in attendance at the rally, which was organized by the Asian Canadian Equity Alliance (ACEA).

The non-profit organization works to confront the bullying, harassment, and discrimination of Asians, incidents of which have been surging across Canada.

The demonstration was held, in part, to oppose discrimination against Asians and mourn the victims of the shooting in Atlanta.

Attendees of Sunday’s rally told Daily Hive that protestors were respectful of COVID-19 public health measures and maintained social distance throughout the event.
