Former Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson’s Stanley Park wedding featured in Vogue
Former Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson got married this winter in an intimate outdoor ceremony that was featured in Vogue.
The bride was former journalist and communications professional Eileen Park, and she spoke to the magazine about their quarantine love story.
The couple met at a political conference in 2019 while Park was working as director of communications for the Portland mayor’s office. They dated long-distance for several months, but when the pandemic hit and borders closed Robertson suggested she move to Vancouver.

“As two strong-willed, independent individuals, you might think the pandemic would’ve put a strain on the relationship, but the opposite happened. It brought us closer,” she told Vogue.

Park has previously worked for CBS and NBC, and was a foreign correspondent in South Korea. She also founded video production company Anecdotia Media.
The magazine didn’t say when they got married, only that it was this winter. They chose a site in the park next to some beautiful trees, reflecting their love of nature.
Although Park and Robertson told Vogue the wedding ceremony was under Canada’s tallest maple tree, that title is disputed by the town of Pelham, Ontario, which has a sugar maple tree called Comfort Maple that’s been growing since the 1500s.
Either way, Stanley Park made for a gorgeous backdrop as Park walked down the aisle in a Proenza Schouler dress and sash of Robertson’s family tartan.
Robertson, wearing a kilt, met her in the forest, and the couple read their vows with the wedding officiant and witnesses present.
“It’s been an intense and unusual year for all of us — but many wonderful things have happened too — especially getting closer with our family, friends, and loved ones,” Robertson wrote in an Instagram post Thursday. “This has been particularly true for us.”

He’s shared several pictures with Park on his Instagram since her move to Vancouver, including a couple of chilly-looking dips in the Pacific Ocean.
