SKOOKUM, one of Metro Vancouver’s newest music festivals, will not be making a return for 2019.

According to event organizers, the biggest reason for not hosting a 2019 event was having the ability to book artists.

It was also mentioned that last year’s event drew in more than 51,000 attendees over the course of three days, proving that popularity and attendance was never an issue.

Erin Crooks, Marketing and Communications Manager at BRAND LIVE, shared the following statement with Daily Hive:

“The inaugural SKOOKUM Festival proved to be an overwhelming success with more than 51,000 people attending over three days. As the inaugural year required extensive planning and artists often book on an 18-month cycle, event organizers are currently working towards a 2020 return. “

The organization behind the festival, BRAND LIVE, is an event production company known for events such as the Squamish Valley Music Festival and the Honda Celebration of Light.

Last year’s festival took place from Friday, September 7 to Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Brockton Field in Stanley Park.

The event was headlined by The Killers and Florence + The Machine.

Although the festival saw ample attendance, there were also 12 noise complaints received on the festival’s final day.
