New spot for Italian and American BBQ to open in Vancouver soon

Dec 10 2019, 7:37 pm

We’ve been wondering what would replace Vancouver’s short-lived haunted bar, The Dark Manor Inn, since it shuttered in July 2019, and now we finally know.

The new concept taking over the 4298 Fraser Street space won’t have any cobwebs strung about, as Say Mercy! will be all about Italian eats and American BBQ.

Say Mercy! comes to us from the same team that brought us Powell Street gem The Mackenzie Room, the Collective Hospitality group.

Set to open in early 2020 (they are aiming for mid-January), this new spot will offer diners a menu of starters, pasta, and share plates such as a whole fish or Florentine “T-bone” steak.

Executive Chef Sean Reeve will be at the helm of the kitchen serving up a unique marriage of these two cuisines. Reeve was classically trained in Italy but has always had an affinity for barbeque joints as well.

In terms of decor, patrons can expect “influences of art deco and the mid-century” in the 60-seat restaurant.

“The relationship between the two cuisines is both unexpected and somehow very familiar, relatable, and honest,” says owner Andrew Jameson, “And we want the feel of the room to reflect that.”

Say Mercy! will be open daily for dinner service starting at 5 pm, and we’ll keep you posted as more details are released.
